Blogroll

As soon as I figure out this whole TypePad thing, I'll put up a proper blogroll...but it's also only fair that I put up explanations for why these things are blogrolled here.

DailyKos : The Blogfather. I actually discovered dKos via salon.com back in August or September of 2004. dKos is the seminal online community for lefty-leaning folks like me. I quickly found my little niche (waves to my Cheers and Jeers peeps and my TDS/TCR Spoiler Thread posse), and now it's my bloghome. I've never seen so many smart people in one place in my life.

Michigan Liberal : Michigan is very fortunate to have a bustling and well-connected blogosphere, and MichLib is the hub of that activity. I got a chance to hang out with some of these people at YearlyKos, and they feel just like family.

Pam's House Blend : Pam Spaulding is one of my heroes. She's out and proud and makes no attempt to hide her identity or her political beliefs. She's got a razor-sharp wit and a commanding grasp of all things LGBT.

Liberal, Loud and Proud : LiberalLucy. If you're from Michigan, stop right there. You know who Lucy is--she needs no introduction. If you're not from Michigan...well, LiberalLucy is affectionately known as the Cruise Director of the Michigan lefty blogosphere, and for good reason. Watching that woman work her mojo is like lighting off fireworks indoors (yes, I stole this phrase from the New York Times review of the original Broadway production of Rent, but it fits Lucy too).

Fruitland Township's Think Tank : Mary Eley is a Fruitland Township trustee, and a true trailblazer in local blogging. Fruitland Township, my home for the last 25 years, has suffered from absolutely terrible leadership at township hall, and Mary Eley is doing a spectacular job shedding light on their shenanigans. She may not win the Mileagegate fight, but she's sure trying.

On The Left Tip : RenaRF rocks my socks. She just...gets it.

BlueHampshire :  A very good friend of mine is a front-pager at BH, and he deserves a shout-out if for no other reason than it may inspire him to actually blog a little bit. And in terms of a lefty community site, BH gets it right.

Digby : I am not even remotely qualified to write an introduction that would do Digby justice, so I won't even try. It's Digby, for crying out loud.

Wizardkitten  : Again, if you're from Michigan, you know who Wizardkitten is. If you're not from Michigan, read her blog. NOW. :-) UPDATE: Wizardkitten is no longer talking politics at her personal blog. Lucky for us, she's still slaying Republican asshats at BFM.

Great Lakes, Great Times, Great Scott : ScottyUrb gets points for sheer tenacity and for being one of the smartest young bloggers out there. Go Scotty!

Street Prophets : I'm not religious, but if I were Street Prophets would be my online home. These are my kind of Christians.

More later...So many good blogs, so little time.
